The School of the Environment offers unique distance learning courses and certificate programs for environmental professionals who wish to upgrade their skills, as well as individuals interested in obtaining and/or increasing environmental knowledge. These innovative programs are provided entirely online and offer the possibility to gain recognized certifications.

Students may take an individual course or pursue a full certificate by successfully completing the 4 program course requirements, or 6 for the advanced certificates.

An undergraduate degree or a diploma as a prerequisite for acceptance into all certificate courses and programs is recommended. It is acknowledged, however, that adult learners may have a suitable combination of education, experience and training which does not include a university degree. In this case, prospective students must be able to demonstrate that they have this relevant skill-set. For special consideration, please apply in writing to the Program Manager, Donna Nielsen (d.nielsen@utoronto.ca) and include a current resume along with your application.
