Tuition fees will be at the standard rate for School of Graduate Studies Doctoral Stream Masters programs. In the 2023-2024 academic year, these were set at $8,213.96 for domestic students, and $31,659.96 for international students. The MES is an unfunded program, however, all students admitted to the MES will be offered an entrance scholarship, a research assistantship, and the option to apply for a teaching assistantship in the School’s undergraduate program to help offset the cost of tuition. Students admitted to the MES do not need to submit any additional applications to be considered for the entrance scholarship or research assistantship.
In addition, the School of the Environment has a number of endowed scholarships, and amounts vary from year to year. Students are also encouraged to apply for external awards. Further information can be found on our Scholarships & Awards webpage.
The University of Toronto has created a new Indigenous Tuition Initiative to foster and strengthen relationships between U of T and Indigenous communities in Ontario, across Canada, and in the United States. The Canada Graduate Scholarships-Master's (CGS M) program aims to help develop the research skills and assist in the training of highly qualified personnel by supporting students who are early in their graduate studies. Those applying to the MES are welcome to apply for CGS-M. Applicants should apply for CGS-M at the same time they are applying to the MES.
